Our petitions team today collected more signatures in George Street in Hove for our petition urging our local Brighton and Hove MPs to vote against Article 50. Theresa May has scheduled the vote next week in Parliament and both Conservative and Labour MPs are being forced into supporting the motion. The Liberal Democrats believe this Government is rushing us headlong out of Europe without due consideration and thought. Nick Clegg has listed 20 things that need to be considered before the process of leaving Europe should even begin. Article 50 may well be irreversible and our petition urges our local MPs to vote with their conscience and represent the views of their constituents on the issue of triggering Article 50.

It is going to be a long struggle to get the Government to see sense on Europe and the Liberal Democrats are at the forefront of the campaign to keep the closest possible ties with Europe whilst respecting the divisions in our Country.
