UK faces longest period of wage stagnation for two centuries.

As the implications of the latest austerity budget sink in, the FT calculates that based on long run estimates the UK is set to experience the longest run of wage stagnation in two centuries. Twelve years of Tory misrule are taking us back to conditions that existed in the 1820s. Is this what Brexit and Tory visions of Sovereignty are all about? The highest tax levels since the second world war, poverty not experienced since the 1950s and failing public services are not what people voted for. We need a General Election now. We need a new system of electing who governs us. We need rid of the failed Tories.

Ed Davey calls for resignation of Kwasi Kwarteng as Tories U turn on 45% tax rate cut.

As Kwasi Kwarteng announced that he would not proceed with the 45% tax rate cut the damage done to economy and people's living standards continued. The mini budget turned from a minor fiscal event into a major one as the Bank of England was forced to spend billions of pounds protecting the gilts market and mortgage rates rose towards 6%, the highest seen since the financial crisis in 2007/8.

As the country suffers, Kwarteng parties with those he has just made richer.

Reports in the press detail how Kwasi Kwarteng celebrated his mini budget with financiers in the home of one of their number. The Champagne fuelled event raised its glasses to the lifting of the cap on bankers' bonuses and the abolition of the higher 45% tax rate that applies to those uncapped bonuses. Meanwhile mortgage borrowers wait to hear how they will suffer as their new mortgage rates rise to pay for the give away to those financiers.

Lib Dems Achieve Historic Win in Tiverton & Honiton By-Election.

The Liberal Democrat Richard Foord overturned a Tory majority of 24,239 to win by a spectacular 6,144 votes with a swing of 29.93% to the Lib Dems. In a turnout of 52.16% the Lib Dem majority came in at 14.43%. With such a resounding result the voters of Tiverton & Honiton have sent an emphatic message to the government that they reject the way the country is being run and it is time for a change.

Queen's Speech fails to address the concerns of the people about the rising cost of living. Ed Davey raises fears about the neglect of Rural Communities, Pensioners and the most vulnerable in our society

In a disastrous night for the Conservatives the Lib Dems severely dent the Blue Wall yet again.
